Ancient Mycenae

Ancient Mycenae is a city-state that defined a whole era, reigning in Greece from 1600 to 1100 BC and known as the golden state. The walls surrounding the acropolis of Mycanae were massive, built with huge stones and called Cyclopean walls. Visit the site and see the ornate Lions Gate, explore the site, tome tomb of Agamemnon and don't miss the palace or the famous beehive tombs. Witness the glory of one of the first civilizations of Europe.

Make sure to visit early in the morning during the summer months as the site is quite a walk up a steep hill.
